Biography

Born in Singapore, Benedict "hyhy" Lim Han Yong's family preferred him to focus on his studies but hyhy didn't want to give up gaming and tried juggling both education and gaming. The results of this were his grades dropping and his parents marking gaming as the cause of it. They quoted, "Gaming will be the death of you one day." Although he is quite a professional gamer, his parents only see his grades in his studies and doesn't talk about his gaming career. The only person who supported hyhy through his gaming career was his ex-girlfriend, Huayan, a DOTA player as well.

DOTA 1 Career

Initially part of a team called Micronology, hyhy disbanded the team at the end of 2007 and was taken into another called Zenith. They won the E-Sports World Championship (ESWC) 2008. Due to inactivity from the Zenith team, hyhy left and joined Kingsurf on September 2008. Kingsurf changed its name to Aeon in 2009. They won the ADC III. With more sponsorship, Aeon switched to Sycthe Gaming. However, they failed to qualify for the World DOTA Championship (WDC) and had a disappointing performance in the E-Sports Thailand Championship (ESTC). With the departure of one of the Scythe members, hyhy was brought into Nirvana.my to play in the 2010 Sendi Mutiara Multimedia DOTA Championship (SMMDC), they only managed 6th place.

DOTA 2 Career 

After the disappointing performance in the SMMDC, hyhy left Nirvana.my and rejoined Sycthe Gaming or Sycthe Gaming reform with new team mates. They won the ADC and also placed second in the IPDC, a good start. However, the team faced financial trouble when the 2011 Tohaku earthquake and tsunami struck. A few members left the team and Scythe Gaming went underground again. The team was unexpectedly invited to The International 2011 and hyhy had to form a team on short notice with only a week of practice before The International 2011. Nevertheless, Scythe managed to surprise everyone by beating 4 teams and claiming third place, $150,000.
